American Bowl '99 - NFL Live Broadcast Channel 9 Australia & FOX Sports USA
Barry Atkinson - Australian Project Manager (See Projects Page)

In 1999 NFL New York and sports promoter Millsport USA staged the AmericanBowl'99 sports event at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney. The Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers arrived in Sydney on two Air New Zealand charter flights - total 700paxs. The Sheraton On The Park and Intercontinental Hotels were hired exclusively for these teams. Each team had fourteen x48 seat Murray's coaches for daily convoy transfers to training grounds, the Sydney International Airport and Stadium Australia. NSW Police escorts were coordinated as part of Olympic training. Thirty-eight Macleay College volunteers were part of the event management team. National and international media were coordinated the week prior to the game.

The tickets sold for the event totaled around 80,000 - the entire event staged as a live broadcast to North American markets on FOX SPORTS. This was a massive international pre-season media event with sponsors Air New Zealand, Chrysler Cars, Gatorade, NSW Premiers Department, Omnicon, Nortel Network and TCN9. Barry Atkinson was contracted locally as the Australian ground specialist to Project Manager the entire event.
